MIKE DALLAS JR. – Welterweight – YOU BE THE JUDGE Participant June 5 – Unanimous Decision over Marlo Cortez
Q) WHAT WENT THROUGH YOUR MIND WHEN THE DECISION WAS CALLED LAST NIGHT? HOW ARE YOU FEELING IN THE LAST FEW DAYS AFTER?
I knew what the outcome was going to be after the fight. I just felt I could of done much better. I let him tie me up and should have punched my way out, but I was still happy to come up with the victory. I’m feeling good right now and ready to improve every time I enter the ring.
Q) HOW WOULD YOU RATE YOUR FIGHT?
I would rate myself an B-minus . . . because I didn’t do everything I should have to make my best performance.
Q) WHAT DO YOU FELT LIKE YOU DID WELL IN THE FIGHT?
I controlled the tempo of the fight and landed some great shots.
Q) WHAT DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU COULD HAVE DONE BETTER?
I think I should have settled down a little and worked on sharper punches so the fight wouldn’t have went the distance.
Q) DID THE FIGHT PLAY OUT LIKE YOU EXPECTED?
No. I had a game plan to stay calm and finish the guy when I got the chance, but I didn't follow my game plan.
Q) WAS THERE ANYTHING YOU DID IN TRAINING THAT REALLY PAID OFF IN THE FIGHT?
I worked on the left hook to the body and head, which worked throughout the fight.
Q) ANY THOUGHTS ABOUT YOUR OPPONENT, MARLO CORTEZ?
I thought he used some smart tactics in the ring to keep me from landing shots
Q) THIS WAS YOUR SECOND FIGHT AT HP PAVILION - HOW DO YOU LIKE FIGHTING THERE? DO YOU LIKE THE "YOU BE THE JUDGE" CONTEST CONCEPT?
I like the crowd at HP Pavilion and the YOU BE THE JUDGE competition is cool . . . too bad I just haven’t won yet . . . even though I have come close.
Q) WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO NEXT?
I would like to just stay busy, so I can stay sharp in the ring
Q) WHAT WENT THROUGH YOUR MIND AS YOU WALKED TO THE RING IN THE MOMENTS BEFORE STEPPING INTO THE RING?
On the way to the ring, I felt very focused and was ready to perform.
Q) ANY MESSAGE FOR YOUR FANS AFTER THE VICTORY?
I would just like to thank everybody that came and supported me from Bakersfield and Los Angeles.
